Creative Young Neighbourhoods is an initiative of Cork City Council supported by Creative Ireland.
It advocates the voice of young people by supporting members of youth groups to play an active role in their creative experiences. An aim of Creative Young Neighbourhoods is to build on the annual occasion of Cruinniú na nÓg to inform policy and practice in the area of youth creativity throughout the year.
Youth aged 10+ years of age can get involved in Cruinniú na nÓg by partnering with professional creatives on creative activities. In 2023, awards of up to €2000 are available to fund Creative Young Neighbourhoods projects.
Candidates are encouraged to engage with Cruinniú na nÓg 2023 to get a taste of what could be possible and to make connections in the fields of creativity and youth.
An application for Creative Young Neighbourhoods funding can be made via this Expression of Interest Form from12th May until the closing date at 12pm on 6th July 2023.
Awards will be announced in mid July so that youth organisations can build their creative experience into their annual plan in August. 50% of the award funding can be drawn down in August.
The priority of the initial period is for creatives to get to know the young people they will work with. It is not necessary to provide details of a creative idea or the plan to achieve it until noon on 7th November 2023.
On submission of the plan by the November deadline, the remaining 50% of funding can be drawn down.
Activities can be scheduled at a time that suits all involved as long as they are complete by the end of June 2024.
Awardees are required to engage with Cruinniú na nÓg in some way on 8th June 2024. Exactly how can be determined closer to the date.
A report is also required. Format tbc.
ASSESSMENT
Eligible Expressions of Interest will be assessed according to how well the conditions of the award are met based on responses to questions in the form regarding 'Who', 'Why', 'How' 'When' and 'Where' as well as their creative potential demonstrated through the evidence of creative materials submitted.
