About the LEGOLAND School Challenge
The LEGOLAND School Challenge was first launched in 2022 with the aim to inspire students to unleash their imaginations and create the worlds of their dreams with LEGO®. In its inaugural year, the competition received 200 submissions based on the year’s theme, “Pride of Your State.” 12 magnificent LEGO Builds were selected.
In its second year, the challenge, surpassed all expectations by attracting 370 school group submissions from across the ASEAN region. The theme for 2023, “Cities of The Future” was focused on sustainability.
LEGOLAND School Challenge 2024
Entry Categories: There are 2 age categories for participants in the challenge:
- Category 1: Aged 7-12
- Category 2: Aged 13-17
Participation Criteria: The group criteria for participation are as follows:
- Each group must have a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 students.
- Each group can have a maximum of 2 teachers. LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort will only engage in official communication regarding the LEGOLAND® School Challenge through the teacher in charge.
- All students in the group must be from the same school.
- There are no limitations on the number of groups per school.
Entry Requirements: To participate, groups must adhere to the following requirements:
- Participants will be given the theme of "World of Fantasy”.
- Only original LEGO® bricks are allowed for the competition.
- The model should be mounted on a LEGO baseplate measuring as below and the maximum height of the model is 75 cm:
- Minimum of 4 pieces of 32 x 32 studs, or (50 cm) x (50 cm)
- Maximum of 6 pieces of 32 x 32 studs, or (75 cm) x (50 cm)
- Only entries from registered participant groups will be accepted for the judging process.
Submission Deadlines: Submit your final LEGO Creation(s) BY 21st JUNE 2024:
Entries can be submitted from 4 June 2024, 10 AM Malaysia Time, and the deadline to submit entries is 21 June 2024, 6 PM Malaysia Time. Entries must include:
- A description of the LEGO® creation in 50-100 words in the English language only.
- 5 pictures of the LEGO® Creation showcasing the build from different angles (front, back, left, right, and top).
- A video showcasing the final model, with a minimum length of 30 seconds and a maximum length of 40 seconds.
- Videos and pictures must be uploaded to the campaign microsite (URL to be shared later). Please ensure that your video is in MP4 format and does not exceed 1GB in size.
- Only entries from registered groups in the previous phase will be accepted for judging in this phase.
Judging Process & Scoring Criteria: The judging process for the submitted LEGO creation will include the following criteria:
- Storytelling of concept (To be further explained in the submitted description)
- Creativity and Originality Adherence to the Theme
- Detail, Complexity and Technical Skill
- Implementation of STEM elements to the design work
- Humor and surprise factor
Finalist Requirements: If you/your group is selected as a finalist:
- The finalist group/team will have to present their LEGO® creation physically for public display at LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort for a minimum of 1 month.
- The finalist is invited to attend the prize-giving ceremony at LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort in September 2024 (date to be confirmed).
Prize Summary: The top 8 winning groups from each age category will receive the following:
- Iconic A LEGO® Trophy (1 per group)
- LEGO® Sets (1 per group)
- Invitation to attend LEGOLAND for the Prize-Giving Ceremony
- Exclusive workshop with LEGO® Master Model Builder for the grand prize winners
- LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort tickets for all winners invited to the Prize Giving Ceremony
- Certificate of Participation for all participants
- LEGO® Goodies for all winners invited to the Prize Giving Ceremony
- Participation in STEM/English Mania education program in LLMR
